Left Hand Fade to Black Volume 5

It took a while to track this down, but I’m very excited to finally get my hands on Left Hand Fade to Black Volume 5. This year, a Black Rye Ale.

Pours like you would expect. More chocolate than expected in the aroma, still with plenty of roasted scents. The rye finally shows up in the flavor and lasts throughout the finish. Creamy and smooth. Finishes dry and bitter, but not much presence from the hops. Maybe a little bit of black pepper in there, too.

It’s very good, but maybe not mind-blowing as previous Fade to Blacks have been.
