Triton Sin Bin Ale

Triton Sin Bin

Triton Sin Bin

This is a beer I judged by its cover, which is awesome. From Indianapolis, the official beer of the Indiana Ice, this is Triton Brewing Sin Bin Ale.

Color is dark orange, but not quite to copper. Yeast and orange dominate the aroma. Sweet malt with a toasted background. That pleasant funk from Belgian yeast. It’s almost like orange butterscotch. Hops only show up in the dry, slightly bitter finish.

This doesn’t have great reviews elsewhere, but I’m baffled. I think it’s delicious.

New Holland White Hatter

New Holland White Hatter

New Holland White Hatter

Another variation on New Holland’s Hatter IPA series, this is the White Hatter, a Belgian version.

Pours a cloudy orange with a fluffy white head, as expected, that dissipates quickly. Orange, coriander, and chamomile in the aroma. Light, crisp, and very refreshing. Mostly citrus fruit flavor, but piney hops come in at the end. Especially noticeable in the bitter finish. This is a sacchariferous and subtle beer, with balance from the hops to keep it from getting cloying. Clocks in at just 5.5% ABV, so several of these on a warm summer night would do quite well.

Drinking Buddies

This may be the only romantic comedy I am actually looking forward to seeing.

The Brew Kettle Summer Soulstice

The Brew Kettle Summer Soulstice

The Brew Kettle Summer Soulstice

I suppose it’s time to get into the summer seasonals. Today, The Brew Kettle’s Summer Soulstice.

Pours lighter in color and less cloudy than expected. Aroma is enticing with sweet orange and coriander. Flavor is spot on. The wheat malt is there, but the orange and coriander come through just fine.

Light, crisp, refreshing, good balance. Very nice Wit.
